Archery Elk Hunting
General Elk License Area: ALL OUR HUNTING IS FAIR CHASE!
Archery season elk hunts are conducted from our drive to wall tent camp. We offer 4 total hunts starting the 2nd week of September thru 1st week of October. The 4 hunts we offer are 5 full days of hunting. You arrive the afternoon before the start of your hunt to get settled into camp and shoot your bow. Our hunting is all “Fair Chase” and as we all know there are no guarantees!
Our September/October archery elk hunts are conducted on 11,000 acres of private land ranches in a General Elk Hunting Area. When hunting a general draw area, you need your general elk license. Which is gotten through the Montana General License Drawing with an April 1st deadline. Before arrival to camp you will need to also pick up an Archery Stamp over the counter.
The bulls found can vary from young brow-tine bulls (rag horns) to mature 320 P&Y gross score bull elk. There is a larger population of younger bulls on our ranches in these areas. We have however seen 350 P&Y bulls while out in the field.
We have two styles of hunting we prefer to use during the archery season. The first being spot and stalk with some calling involved. The second is from one of our stationary blinds near water, a wallow, or frequently used game trails. Both have proven to be very successful depending on what the elk are doing at the time of your hunt. The private land ranches we hunt on are accessed by John Deere Gator / side-by-side, or 4×4’s.
Lone Wolf Guide Service strives to offer only the very finest private ranches for its client hunters. We own exclusive hunting rights on these ranches, and the trophy potential can be fabulous!
